The concept of this website is to offer videos of a selection of solos by Django Reinhardt « played with two fingers ». I create the videos by playing live alongside with Django’s recordings.

The purpose of these videos is to try to better understand the dynamics of Django Reinhardt’s playing and the musical concepts he uses. I try to play as close as possible to what he could have done to learn from it and enrich my own playing. Click here to know more about me and about my work.

Solo Swinging with Django 1937

Swinging with Django is the first solo I played on Django Reinhardt’s recording (and had so much fun doing it!). It is also an harmonic structure that he loved and recorded several times with Christmas Swing and Stompin’ at Decca.

The solo and bridge of Exactly like you is full of phrases that I call on the website « superphrases ». Django played acoustic and it is for me one of his most beautiful solos. I play it like all the other videos at the same time as the recording of Django.
